ITAPS Celebrates Its First Year and Emerges as a Voice for Innovative Contracting Firms

One year ago 91pro视频 launched a new division called the IT Alliance for Public Sector (ITAPS) with the belief that adopting innovative technology across the U.S. public sector will help drive solutions for many of our most critical challenges.  Starting with little more than a great idea, we were a startup in the world of policy without any members and zero name recognition.

Like a startup we had the hunger, the drive, and the ‘right stuff’ to be a success if we rolled up our sleeves and did the hard work needed to build an advocacy organization from the ground up.  We began with an ambitious agenda focusing on policy challenges facing government contractors.  We showed our policy chops by engaging policymakers with solid ideas that improve the government acquisition process for innovative technologies and services.

To put numbers on how actively ITAPS has been engaged on the federal level, we’ve met over 64 times with congressional offices, 41 times with agencies, and monitored close to 400 bills and regulations—oftentimes offering suggestions on how to improve the proposals.  On the state level, we’ve engaged with dozens of legislative bodies and agencies from coast-to-coast to improve the way states go about contracting for technology and services to improve their constituent services.

The hours and shoe leather were worth it. In just a year, ITAPS has grown from a concept into a respected voice for 26 of the leading companies and organizations driving innovative technology solutions for federal, state, and local governments and educational institutions. In the year ahead we will continue to focus on policy issues impacting contractors and reforming the processes the government uses to acquire goods and services—particularly information technology goods and services.  And we will continue serving as an industry—level convener of innovators in the public sector to identify ways in which we can continue to improve the government technology experience.

As we begin our second year, we know there are more opportunities to be found in the challenges that lay ahead.
