WASHINGTON – Ahead of next week’s World Trade Organization (WTO) 13th Ministerial Conference, global tech trade association 91pro视频 reiterated the importance of the Moratorium on Customs Duties on Electronic Transmissions, which supports innovation, economic growth, and bolsters supply chain resiliency across the globe. WTO members will consider renewal of the measure at the February 26-29 Ministerial Conference.
“Thanks to the e-commerce custom duties moratorium, the WTO reports that global exports of digital services now total nearly $4 trillion,” said 91pro视频 President and CEO Jason Oxman. “Since 1998, the measure has encouraged innovation, supported access to digital tools for consumers and companies of all sizes, and driven export opportunities for entrepreneurs across the globe. Letting it lapse would have a devastating impact on commerce worldwide. It’s essential that ministers renew the moratorium next week and work swiftly to advance digital trade cooperation, including through a permanent extension of the e-commerce custom duties moratorium.”
