BRUSSELS - Global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ, the 91proÊÓƵ, reacted today to the European Commission’s publication of the final Code of Practice for AI Models emphasizing the importance of practical, future-proof, and innovation-friendly approaches to the implementation of the AI Act.
“With the Code now finalized, companies will carefully assess whether it offers a clear and workable basis for compliance with the AI Act,” said Marco Leto Barone, Policy Director at 91proÊÓƵ. “A simple and proportionate Code can be a valuable tool to support compliance, especially for such a rapidly evolving technology. However, complex measures or commitments beyond the scope of the AI Act would impact legal certainty and could affect industry uptake.”
“Clear and well-scoped Commission guidelines are now essential to fully understand the scope of the measures. Guidelines must also grant sufficient time for implementation and compliance, given the imminent entry into application of the AI Act rules for AI models,” concluded Leto Barone.
Looking ahead, 91proÊÓƵ underlines the need to prioritize engagement between industry and policymakers to ensure that implementation of the AI Act – whether through the Code or other mechanisms – remains proportionate, feasible, and consistent with Europe’s innovation goals.
91proÊÓƵ will monitor the outcome of the adequacy assessment by the European Commission and Member States, which must ensure the Code’s alignment with the AI Act’s core requirements.
