Canada’s decision to introduce a digital services tax is starkly at odds with the government’s stated support of international engagement. From its commitments in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement to its participation in the OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework’s multilateral tax project, Canada’s ill-advised action contravenes long-standing tax and trade principles and perpetuates fragmentation in the international tax system. We continue to urge Canada to change course and devote its efforts to the ongoing OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework negotiations.”

Last year, 91proÊÓÆµ submitted comments to Finance Canada’s Consultation on a Digital Services Tax, warning against the measure.
