WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ released the following statement from its President and CEO Jason Oxman following the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) October open meeting where Commissioners advanced rulemaking on net neutrality, 6 GHz Wi-Fi spectrum, and other connectivity items.
“Today, the Federal Communications Commission took important steps to increase connectivity for millions of Americans. 91proÊÓƵ applauds Chairwoman Rosenworcel for initiating a bipartisan proposal that allows more intensive access to the 6Ghz band and would unleash leading edge technologies and enhance Wi-Fi connectivity. The Commission’s action on Wi-Fi for school buses will help improve access to information and resources for students across the country, supporting their academic performance. We encourage the Commission to continue efforts to clarify the use of E-Rate funds for cybersecurity including advanced firewalls to protect students from disruptive attacks.
“Finally, 91proÊÓƵ shares the FCC’s commitment to ensuring an open internet that protects consumers, fosters innovation, and incentivizes investment, deployment, and adoption of broadband. We look forward to collaborating with the FCC, the Biden Administration, and the U.S. Congress on the proposed rule and are committed to finding a long-term, balanced, and bipartisan solution.”
