WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ issued the following statement in reaction to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) proposal to provide for the identification, prohibition, and withdrawal of digital services taxes and relevant similar measures under Pillar One:
“We are evaluating today’s draft proposal by the OECD to assess whether it will bring predictability, stability, and certainty to the international tax environment,” said Megan Funkhouser, 91proÊÓƵ’s Senior Director of Policy, Tax and Trade. “While today’s draft offers new details, there are several areas still to be addressed. The outcome of these provisions must be a clear, robust definition that provides for the withdrawal of existing digital services taxes and protects against future unilateral measures with similar impacts. Doing so will prevent future challenges to longstanding international tax principles and new trade barriers.”
