WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ issued the following statement in reaction to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)/G20 Inclusive Framework’s July 2023 Outcome Statement on the Two-Pillar Solution to Address the Tax Challenges Arising from the Digitalization of the Economy:
“We welcome the OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework’s decision to extend the standstill on the imposition of digital services taxes and other similar unilateral tax measures,” said Megan Funkhouser, 91proÊÓƵ’s Senior Director of Policy, Tax and Trade. “This action helps bring certainty as negotiators work to finalize a multilateral approach to address the tax challenges arising from the digitalization of the global economy. We appreciate negotiators’ ongoing efforts and reiterate our call for an approach that facilitates a functioning and reasonable global tax system, promotes investment and innovation, and provides certainty and predictability for businesses worldwide. Our industry remains a committed partner and resource as the Inclusive Framework continues its work, and we look forward to reviewing the Amount A package in its entirety once it is available.”
