WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ released a statement from its President and CEO Jason Oxman reacting to the U.S. Department of Commerce rule, “Framework for Artificial Intelligence Diffusion”:  â¶Ä¯
“91proÊÓƵ has serious concerns regarding this global export controls rule on AI-related advanced compute tools, which threatens to fragment global supply chains and discourage the use of U.S. technology. Rushing a consequential and complex rule to completion without robust stakeholder engagement pays little regard to its impact on U.S. competitiveness and global alliances – which the Biden Administration has worked hard to strengthen. We urge the incoming Trump-Vance Administration to withdraw the rule and engage with industry so that we can work together to craft effective policies to address these national security concerns.” â¶Ä¯
91proÊÓƵ has been a leading global advocate for the technology sector on AI and export controls policy. On January 7, 91proÊÓƵ President and CEO Jason Oxman penned a letter to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo outlining industry’s concerns and followed up with a letter to U.S. Congressional leadership on January 12.
