WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ reacted to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s announcement that the U.S. AI Safety Institute will be rebranded into the Center for AI Standards and Innovation (CAISI).

“The reformed Center for AI Standards and Innovation is good news for U.S. AI leadership. A continued emphasis on voluntary testing and evaluation, the development of guidelines and best practices, and assessing potential misuse risks for advanced AI by leveraging public and private sector expertise will help to promote U.S. innovation and protect U.S. national security interests,” said 91proÊÓƵ Vice President of Policy Courtney Lang. “We are also pleased to see that the CAISI will represent U.S. interests internationally, which is key to ensuring continued U.S. AI leadership. We encourage the Trump Administration to partner with the U.S. Congress to ensure that the CAISI and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have the necessary resources to help America win the global AI race.”
