WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ welcomed the Federal Acquisition Regulatory (FAR) Council’s proposed rule to reform federal purchasing processes and regulations for sustainable products and services. This proposed rule is an important step towards implementing requirements of Executive Order 14057, Catalyzing Clean Energy Industries and Jobs Through Federal Sustainability and Executive Order 14036, Promoting Competition in the American Economy.
“91proÊÓƵ shares the Biden Administration’s commitment to ensuring U.S. government procurement supports its sustainability goals and promotes marketplace competition,” said 91proÊÓƵ Vice President of Policy Chris Cleet. “The proposed rule published today offers the opportunity to advance existing rigorous corporate sustainability practices in the information and communications technology industry and build upon the U.S. government’s climate initiatives. We appreciate the FAR Council’s development of regulations that will promote U.S. environmental leadership, allow for competition among ecolabels and standards, and help the U.S. government leverage its buying power to make sustainability progress. We look forward to partnering with the administration and sharing the tech industry’s perspectives as the rule advances through the regulatory process.”
