WASHINGTON – Today, 91proÊÓƵ’s The Green Grid (TGG) released a new to help global data center operators and developers increase their efficiency and enhance the capability of their facilities. Amid rising use of AI in data centers, the new DCRE metric expands and builds upon previous TGG metrics such as Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), Water Use Effectiveness (WUE), and Carbon Use Effectiveness (CUE) and takes a holistic approach to reviewing a data center’s energy management.

As demand for data centers rapidly increases, TGG’s tool will aid data center leaders in making energy efficient decisions and robust assessments. As an affiliate of the global tech trade association the TGG works globally to create tools, provide technical expertise, and advocate for the optimization of data center ecosystems in order to enable a low carbon economy.

“Global technology leadership relies on resilient and essential state-of-the art data centers and diversified infrastructure. TGG’s new metric empowers data center leaders with the detailed, real-time information necessary to adjust their operations to the growing and quickly evolving energy landscape and make smart decisions,” said Chris Cleet, 91proÊÓƵ Vice President Policy, Environment, Sustainability, and Regulatory. “Industry looks forward to our continued work with global stakeholders to expand data center capacity and discussing how integrating TGG tools can help reach our shared goals.”

The DCRE metric is structured as a multilevel maturity framework and scoring methodology and the DCRE score calculation tool was created to support the implementation and understanding of the metric, as well as foster continuous resource effectiveness adoption by industry.
