WASHINGTON – The Green Grid (TGG) released an updated tool to improve the cost-effectiveness of utilizing liquid cooling in data centers today. Furthering its work to improve data center efficiency and design globally, TGG, working with leaders across industry, developed this tool for data center architects and finance professionals to better understand how different liquid cooling alternatives will work in various data center environments.

The second largest use of energy in a data center is typically the cooling of the equipment, and liquid cooling deployments continue to grow as data centers look to hit ambitious sustainability goals. This TGG tool shows how data centers can reduce costs by up to 50% by adopting new best practices and solutions including liquid cooling of IT equipment. The TGG tool is available in both English and Japanese at .

"For seven years, The Green Grid has proudly collaborated to create, publish and promote financial and technical resources that enable more efficient design and promote sustainable change," said Erica Thomas, Leader of The Green Grid. "As data centers grow rapidly, access to the most efficient best practices for their performance is an important element to enable industry innovation."

Since 2016, TGG have collaborated to produce and vet this resource to ensure its viability. Recent innovations and more efficient liquid cooling solutions can now conserve data center resources and reduce expenses considerably. Increasingly, ESG reporting requirements encourage both data center operators and owners to improve performance and achieve higher levels of energy efficiency, resource conservation and reuse.

“With approximately 3% of the world’s power going into data center environments daily, it is critical that industry take accountability and responsibility for modeling more efficient data center designs. We are pleased to represent the work of dozens of contributors in this updated professional resource," said Rich Lappenbusch and RT Huang, representatives from Supermicro and Co-Chairs of the TGG Liquid Cooling Standing Work Group.

As an affiliate of the global tech association (91proÊÓƵ), TGG works globally to create tools, provide technical expertise, and advocate for the optimization of energy and resource efficiency of data center ecosystems in order to enable a low carbon economy.

The tool will be available for purchase in January. Please contact tgg-secretariat@thegreengrid.org for more information.

This release is also available in Japanese and Korean.
