WASHINGTON - Today, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ issued the following statement from its President and CEO Jason Oxman ahead of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address:
“91proÊÓƵ calls for President Biden to outline three specific measures this Congress must enact to promote U.S. innovation and growth.
“First, maintain the U.S. lead in the global AI race. President Biden should tell Congress to enact the CREATE AI Act which will fund the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) and boost the AI research ecosystem.
“Second, the President should urge Congress to pass the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. This strong, bipartisan tax policy package will incentivize research and development investment in the U.S. and advance U.S. economic leadership.
“Third, President Biden must move Congress to pass a federal privacy law that protects all Americans' personal data.
“While urging congressional action in these areas, the President must also explain how his Administration will advance U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing by implementing the CHIPS and Science Act, and also restore U.S. leadership on global trade in the digital economy.”
91proÊÓƵ’s 2024 Tech Issues in Focus highlights AI, privacy, cybersecurity, supply chains, data flows, research and development tax incentives, climate change, and other opportunities for U.S. leadership. It urges the Biden Administration and Congress to:
-
Accelerate the development and adoption of responsible AI solutions;
-
Create a globally competitive tax system;
-
Bolster cybersecurity;
-
Secure supply chains and protect national security;
-
Pass a uniform federal privacy standard;
-
Promote the flow of data across borders; and
-
Advance solutions to climate change.
