WASHINGTON – Ahead of Wednesday’s meeting between U.S. President Biden and Chinese President Xi at the APEC Summit in San Francisco, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ issued the following statement from its Vice President of Policy for Asia and Global Trade Naomi Wilson:

“Wednesday’s meeting is a critical opportunity for Presidents Biden and Xi to start the important work of setting the bilateral U.S.-China relationship on a more productive path and providing certainty and stability for the business community. We urge the Biden Administration to act swiftly and strategically to rescind tariffs and negotiate achievable goals with China that will benefit the United States and the global economy. President Biden must also press President Xi to address policies that undermine the global market and fair competition, including China’s continued reliance on state subsidies to undercut market prices, unfair market access requirements for foreign technology companies, and reliance on opaque product testing and certification regimes. Both governments must commit to working through numerous complex and challenging issues.”
