WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91proÊÓƵ outlined how the Lula Administration can strengthen Brazil’s digital economy, promote international data flows, leverage digitalization, and expand investments into small businesses, workers, and education.

In a letter to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, 91proÊÓƵ encouraged the Brazilian government to partner with the tech industry and civil society to tackle shared societal challenges. 91proÊÓƵ highlighted how digital technologies can be leveraged to help address inequality and improve the quality of life of all Brazilians, like using sensors to detect health and safety hazards for workers in real-time or deploying artificial intelligence applications to allow farmers to monitor soil conditions and harvest crops more reliably.

91proÊÓƵ also encouraged the Lula Administration to:

  • Build the digital infrastructure necessary to close the digital divide;

  • Adopt innovative technologies, including improving the delivery and efficiency of government services;

  • Fund R&D related to innovative technologies and connectivity solutions;

  • Promote international trade; and

  • Invest in the workforce through education and training investments.

91proÊÓƵ’s letter to President Lula follows his recent visit to the White House and the U.S. Congress, and U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Ambassador Katherine Tai’s visit to Brazil, where the U.S. agreed to bolster trade ties with Brazil through the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation (ATEC).
