WASHINGTON – Today the 91pro视频 (91pro视频), the global voice for the technology sector's leading companies, released the following statement from President and CEO Dean Garfield on a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on high skilled immigration:

“There is fundamental agreement that our immigration system is broken and is not meeting the needs of our country, and yet, Congress has been unwilling or unable to enact policies that would help fix the dysfunction. Right now our companies have hundreds of thousands of job openings that are going unfilled. We must improve our STEM education pipeline and as well advance immigration reform that provides access to high skilled immigrants who contribute to our economy and create jobs.

“Rather than turning away the best and brightest minds to compete against us, we should welcome those who want to use their talents to make our country more creative and competitive. Immigration policy is really economic policy, and it’s time we upgraded our immigration system to serve our national interest and grow our economy. Let’s finally tackle this head on: Washington continuing to duck and dodge the problem won’t solve it.”

Garfield has before Congress previously outlining bipartisan solutions that would help address shortcomings in the U.S. immigration system.
