WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association 91pro视频 offered recommendations to help shape and strengthen the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework. In comments submitted to NIST, 91pro视频 underscored the need to ensure coherence and coordination with other NIST Frameworks, international standards bodies, and other international approaches to AI governance. 91pro视频 also recommended that NIST prioritize the development of the associated Practice Guide as an instrumental resource to help organizations effectively utilize the Framework.
“We appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback to NIST as it continues to hone the AI Risk Management Framework,” 91pro视频 wrote in the comments. “We believe this tool has the potential to be incredibly useful, but NIST must further work to align the Framework with existing standards and continue to consider key questions in the context of the Framework. 91pro视频 and its members take seriously AI risk management and look forward to continuing our engagement with NIST moving forward.”
91pro视频 offered overarching recommendations to help NIST further develop its AI Framework:

Maintain coherence with prior works, clearly establishing a linkage between the AI Risk Management Framework and the Cybersecurity and Privacy Frameworks.

Leverage and align the Framework with standards that are published or currently under development in international standards bodies.

Maintain and foster consistency of the Framework internationally to the extent possible.

Clarify how risks differ for human facing and non-human facing AI systems, as well as introduce appropriate risk evaluation criteria.

More clearly account for contingencies in the Framework.
